Choir Announcement*
A Dominican Parish Mission

James V. Marchionda, OP

Ann Willitz, OP

Fr. Jim Marchionda, one of our parish mission preachers, is also a noted composer, singer and conductor. One of his compositions, I WAS HUNGRY, was sung during the communion rite at the funeral of Mother Teresa of Calcutta in India.

Fr. Jim hopes to form a special choir for the upcoming mission. To this end, he invites all parish musicians, cantors and choir members (adult, contemporary, children’s, youth, and funeral) to join together for the closing prayer concert on the final night (Tuesday or Wednesday) of the mission. He also invites other interested parishioners (who may not usually sing in a choir) to feel welcome to join the mission choir for the mission days and concert. All that is required is a love of music and an effort to attend rehearsals.

There will be one or two rehearsals during the week of the mission. The first is a required 2-hour rehearsal sometime during the opening weekend of the mission (TBA). If needed, an additional 45-minute rehearsal can follow one of the evening mission services. Participants would be expected to attend at least one of these, although, presence at all rehearsals is strongly recommended.

Any musician, choir member, cantor, or parishioner interested in participating in the mission choir and concert and able to commit to the rehearsals, is asked to notify (NAME)___ _____ as soon as possible so that enough music can be made available.

Please consider joining this special mission choir. It promises to be a worthwhile opportunity and a most inspiring mission event.

* Please consider this for both bulletin and pulpit announcements.
